Rabbinic Couple

Following the departure of Rabbi Amir Ellituv and his family to take up his position in London, the Shaare Hayim Congregation in Hale looked for a Rabbinic Couple to lead our Orthodox Sephardi Community.

Rabbi Yair Fries’ appointment as Minister of the Congregation was ratified at an EGM on 23rd December 2025

Rabbi Fries and Rabbanit Ilana have now taken up their new roles and will be moving to Hale permanently, following completion of some refurbishment works to the house at 18 Wicker Lane.

Jonatahn Dwek, Chair of Council, said "This is a truly exciting opportunity for Rabbi Yair, Rabbanit Ilana and for our whole Community, and on everyone’s behalf, we wish them every success and much luck as they embark upon this new chapter in our Congregation’s future. I am sure that we will give them every encouragement and our full support to ensure their success". 

In the meantime, arrangements have been made for Shabbat services to continue in Didsbury.
